Why I'm Running

I want to continue to represent you and help Moab reach its full potential as a community. My priorities are improving the quality of life for residents, smart development, and making government more responsive. I have worked hard for the betterment of our community both professionally and as a volunteer. I think my skills, and experience on City Council, will allow me to provide the effective, reasoned leadership Moab needs.

Priorities

  • Quality of Life

Residential areas are for residents; I will work to keep them quiet throughout the year. Our streets can develop to be attractive and safe for all, young and old, riders and walkers. I will protect the aquifer and streams we all depend on, and improve water conservation.
  • Smart Development

Moab will continue to grow; through planning we can guide new development in ways that benefit both residents and businesses. I will work to ensure that there is housing for all, new development is compatible with existing, and downtown develops in ways attractive to visitors and residents.
  • Vital Public Institutions

Our schools, medical services, and law enforcement are crucial to our community and must be supported. I will take my role of guarding our tax dollars seriously, and see that services are provided efficiently.
  • Government for the People

I will work to improve coordination and responsiveness within our city government. Coordination requires communication and cooperation between the council, planning commission, and staff. Responsiveness necessitates reasoned and transparent consideration of all interests and factors.

3 Reasons to Vote for Me

  1. Broadly Experienced

In addition to my work on the Moab City Council, I am a small business owner, have nineteen years of experience in building and landscape design and real estate development, and served on the County Planning Commission for six years. In my early years in Moab I worked in the service industry cooking and repairing bikes, and was a supervisor at the Recycling Center.
  2. Solution Oriented.

I have participated in dozens of planning processes for city, county, and federal lands, and seen how a focus on outcomes can allow diverse interests to reach agreement. I will work to find pragmatic solutions that address the current and future needs of Moab.
  3. Open Minded

Through my diverse experience as a Council Member, Planning Commissioner and a developer I understand both the value of planning and the frustrations that can arise on the property owners’ side during the permitting process. I will work to improve the clarity and usability of the City Code and the planning process.
